Tools & technique — quick guide (accordion)

Start with an oblique or straight wooden holder and a flexible nib like Nikko G or a small-pointed nib for copperplate practice. Clean after each session with water; avoid soaking for metal deterioration prevention.

Use pigmented inks for archival work and dye inks for smooth flow on practice sheets. Flush nibs with water, dry thoroughly and store nibs separated from salty air to extend life.

Start with smooth, 90–120 GSM practice paper. For final work choose 200+ GSM hot-pressed paper or Bristol board. Use guidelines and slow strokes: accuracy beats speed.
